Relaxation Exercise

Greetings,

I was a bit frustrated while attempting to complete the exercise “The Crime of the Century”. First off, there was just too much instruction to relax. I was unable to just sit back and clear my mind without stopping and thinking “wait, did I miss something he said?” After I got into the exercise approximately 4 minutes and 22 seconds, it just stopped working. After several attempts, I was unable to get it to go past this point of the exercise. Instead, I decided to have my husband join me for a repeat of the unit 2 exercise, “The Journey”. It was a very relaxing experience to be together in a state of deep relaxation, without the hustle and bustle of daily life that is normally occurring around us when we are together.

Optimal Wellbeing Ratings

Physical wellbeing- I rate myself a 7 for physical wellbeing. I am, for the most part, physically active and I maintain a healthy, well-balanced diet. Unfortunately, however, my life can get very busy and stressful. A goal that I will implement into my life for improved physical wellbeing is to work on my organization skills. Staying organized will improve stress levels and ensure that I will have enough time to include exercise and healthy eating habits into my daily routine.

Spiritual wellbeing- I rate myself a 4 when it comes to spirituality. Sadly, this has become an aspect of my life that has gotten away from me over the last 6 years. Working on careers, and family planning has caused me to become “spiritually sidetracked.” A goal that I will implement into my life is to take more time for myself, for soul-searching. I am in the process of getting set up to start Reiki classes through master level.

Psychological wellbeing- I rate myself an 8 for psychological wellness. Properly processing emotions is important for psychological health, so I will continue my goal of journaling nightly to reduce “storing” any negative thoughts or feelings. Processing my thoughts and feelings will help maintain a balance between my mental and emotional health and allow me to utilize energy more productively.

Reflective statement

greetings,

I found "The Journey" to be, for the most part a very relaxing experience. Guided Imagery is an excellent way for me to clear my mind after a busy day. I often find myself listing in my head for the following day at bed time, and it makes falling asleep difficult. Practices, such as guided imagery, have helped me to reduce my thoughts and prepare for rest. I was able to relax and experience the sensations that the narrator described during the exercise.

Greetings All,

Thank you for joining me during this new experience. I am new to blogging, and I hope to get the hang of it quickly.

Tomorrow is our youngest child's 1st birthday, so we have been quite busy getting ready for his celebration.
